PICKENS COUNTY-The Pickens County YMCA will host its annual “Share the Spirit” golf tournament on Wednesday Nov. 7, at the Smithfields Country Club in Easley.

The “Share the Spirit” campaign helps to fund scholarships for children and families in the community who wish to participate in YMCA activities and would not be able to do so otherwise.

“This year we have seen a 16 percent increase in the need for afterschool and summer camp scholarships. The YMCA has had to tell families that they do not have any scholarships available for their children because we don’t have the funds. This is heartbreaking since a lot of these families cannot send their children to our program without financial assistance and the children absolutely need this,” said Administrative Director for the Pickens County YMCA, Christy McCall.

A variety of sponsorship and participation opportunities is available for anyone who wishes to contribute.

“We do have a variety of sponsorships ranging from $100 to $2,500, but we will accept any and all donations. We are in need of scholarship funds, as of right now, we have given out more than we have brought in,” said McCall.

The event will begin at 10 a.m.
