ANDERSON COUNTY — Anderson County election officials came together on Tuesday night at the civic center to determine results for local elections.

The polls opened statewide at 7 a.m. and were closed at 7 p.m. with 76 total polling locations across Anderson County.

According to the Anderson County Registration and Elections Commission, Tuesday’s election results will be unofficial with the official results not being announced until Friday.

In district six, Ann Smith and incumbent Ken Waters locked horns for a seat in the county council.

According to a summary count, Ken Waters lead the election with 8,175 votes to Smith’s 2,022 votes.

“I want to thank everyone for their support, I couldn’t have done it without them and I look forward to representing district six,” Waters said.

A school board election was also on the line for Rick Bell and Brenda Ellison, and after 30 of the 33 precincts had checked in, Ellison had secured 7,725 votes to Bell’s 5,503.

“I appreciate everyone’s vote of confidence. I look forward to serving the people of district one,” Ellison said.

Bell offered his own words of confidence to the election’s leader.

“I would like to congratulate Brenda Ellison. I know she will do a good job, but I would like to thank everyone that voted for me,” Bell said.

The official results will be announced on Friday.
