PICKENS—The Pickens High basketball team is still looking for its first region win of 2013 after dropping two more league games last week.

Seven region games remain on the Blue Flame’s schedule, and Pickens now sits on a sub-par 3-14 record overall.

The Flame’s fourth straight loss came during a trip to Blue Ridge where Pickens was outmatched offensively.

The 8-9 Tigers dominated the tempo in a 51-30 win, handing Pickens yet another blowout loss.

The Blue Flame’s week wouldn’t get much better from there, however, as Southside came to Pickens and silenced any hopes of a bounce back win during a 75-24 thrashing.

The margin of victory is the most devastating of the year for Pickens, who lost to Greer by 50 last week.

Tyler Tinsley led the offense for Pickens against Southside with 10 points on the night. Chris Howard contributed five, Angus Anderson added three and Antron Wakefield scored two.

Looking ahead, Pickens will play two out of its next three at home. The Blue Flame will host Travelers Rest before hitting the road in a matchup with Eastside. Pickens will then return home on Jan. 25 for a showdown with Berea.

Tip-off for Wednesday night’s game against Travelers Rest is set for 7:30 p.m.
