PICKENS – On Saturday Feb. 16, Lutherans from across the state of South Carolina will converge upon Pickens Presbyterian Church in Pickens.

“Lutherans from all over the state will attend the annual convention for South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission,” said Brian Dooley, vice president of the SCLMM.

The South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission (SCLMM) is a statewide organization designed to offer monetary support for mission congregations.

“The organization’s general task is to provide mission congregations with financial assistance in the form of yearly gifts as well as interest free loans for building new spaces, and also, to enhance discipleship opportunities for men of all denominations,” Dooley said. “We do that through seminars and men’s retreats.”

According to Dooley, this event will mark the first time a mission congregation will lead such an event.

“This will be the first time that the South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission’s annual convention will be hosted by one of its mission congregations,” Dooley said. “It has never happened before and this is the 70th anniversary.”

Dooley said that not only will this event mark the first time that a mission congregation has hosted the event, but it will also be the first time a member will serve as President.

“We are very excited,” Dooley said.

Registration will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 16, and the event will begin at 1 p.m.
