PICKENS – An altercation outside a Pickens convenience store Friday ended in a shooting incident that left one teen dead and another injured, according to authorities.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Hasty Mart near the Town Creek Shopping Center, according to Pickens Police Chief Tommy Ellenburg.

Nineteen-year-old Chaz Isreal Robinson, of 355 Welborn Road, was shot in the chest, Coroner Kandy Kelley said.

Robinson was pronounced dead during surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital, she said.

Another teen, Steven Alan Bryant, 19, a resident of Pickens County, was also shot in during the incident, according to police.

He was treated and released at Greenville Memorial, Ellenburg said.

Police arrested Harold David Tenant Jr, 17, of Greenville, in connection with the incident.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, police were still questioning Tenant, according to Katherine Brackett, assistant city administrator.

The Pickens Police Department is investigating the case.
