CLEMSON - Clemson University’s soccer coach was arrested over the weekend following a family dispute, according to arrest warrants.

Police charged William Trevor Adair, 48, of Catawbah Road, Clemson, with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, the warrants state.

Adair is accused of assaulting his two daughters, according to Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon.

Clemson officials placed Adair on administrative leave following his arrest, according to Athletic Director Terry Phillips.

Adair started coaching soccer for Clemson in 1995.

He started his career as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina where he spent nine seasons.

Adair was also head coach at Brown University in 1991.

Last year, he led the Tigers to seven wins, nine loses and two ties.

Previously, the team traveled to five NCAA final eight competitions, including one final four showing.

Adair was released from the Clemson City Jail on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, Dixon said.
