PICKENS — Pickens authorities arrested a Pickens woman Wednesday and charged her with child neglect after her son tested positive for methamphetamines, according to an arrest warrant.

Kristin Nicole Lesley, 25, of 289 Mount Bethel Road, faces one count of unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person, the warrant states.

Police are accusing Lesley of using meth while pregnant, between June 2008 and March 2009, according to the warrant.

The Department of Social Services tested the newborn for drugs on March 24 with a Meconium test, which came back positive, said Sheriff C. David Stone in a press release.

Before birth, the baby was placed “at unreasonable risk of harm, affecting the child’s life, health and safety,” he said.

According to police, Lesley was the sole person responsible for the child.

She is being held at the Pickens County Detention Center.

Bond was set at $7,500.
