Police also found two guns with George Zinkhan’s body, purposely hidden by dirt and brush, the Associated Press reported.
Cadaver dogs found the body in thick woods in Bogart, about 10 miles west of Athens, where Zinkhan had a home.
Zinkhan was accused of gunning down his wife Marie Bruce, Clemson University professor Tom Tanner, and Ben Teague outside an Athens, Ga. community theater, according to Athens-Clarke County Police Chief Joseph Lumpkin.
The GBI State Crime Laboratory positively identified the body Saturday evening, according to the AP.
They found Zinkhan’s remains and the weapons about a mile from where Zinkhan’s Jeep was found last week wrecked and abandoned in a ravine.
Police had been looking for the 57-year-old UGA marketing professor since the shootings took place.
He was last seen dropping off his children at a neighbor’s house shortly after the incident, according to the Associated Press.
Police believe the shootings stemmed from an argument between Zinkhan and Bruce.
All three victims were shot multiple times.
