Daniel, Pickens boys and girls headed to soccer playoffs

UPSTATE—By placing second in the Western AAA conference standings, the Pickens High School boys soccer team opened the state playoffs Tuesday night with a home matchup against Greer.

Results of that game were not available at press time.

If the Blue Flame won Tuesday night, they will either play at Eastside or host Chester Thursday night.

Daniel, the Western AAA champions, hosted Clinton Tuesday night. Results of that game were not available at press time. If the Lions won Tuesday, they will host either AC Flora or Greenville Thursday night.

According to the AAA Upstate playoff brackets, the Lions will play at home until they either lose a game or win the Upstate Title. The AAAstate championship game is set for May 23.

In the AAAA boys soccer bracket, Region 1-AAAA champions Wren hosted Boiling Springs in a first round playoff game Tuesday night.

Results of that game were not available at press time. If Wren won Tuesday night, the Hurricanes will host either Blythewood or Fort Mill Thursday night.

Easley, placing third in Region 1-AAAA, played at Mauldin Tuesday night. Results of that game were not available at press time.

With a win Tuesday night, the Green Wave would either host York or travel to Rock Hill for a second-round game Thursday night.

In girls soccer, Daniel finished second in Western AAA behind Woodmont. The Lions hosted Chapman Monday night in the first round of the state playoffs. Results of that game were not available at press time. With a win Monday night, the Lions would either host Wade Hampton or travel to Chapin for a second round game tonight (Wednesday, May 13.)

Pickens finished fourth in Western AAA girls soccer, and played at top-seeded Riverside Monday night. Results of that game were not available at press time. If the Blue Flame was able to upset Riverside Monday, they will travel to either J.L. Mann or Lugoff-Elgin tonight.

On the AAAA level, Wren placed second in Region 1-AAAA behind Hanna. The Hurricanes hosted Spartanburg Monday night. Results of that game were not available at press time.

If the Hurricanes won Monday night, they will either host Lancaster or travel to Fort Mill tonight.
