CLEMSON — Clemson University men’s soccer coach Trevor Adair resigned Tuesday, two months after being arrested following a family dispute.

Clemson police charged Adair with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, warrants state.

Adair is accused of assaulting his two daughters, police said.

He was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, police said.

Clemson University officials placed Adair on administrative leave following his arrest, according to University Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips.

“After a great deal of thought and prayer, I believe the time is right to pursue other opportunities in coaching and to help transition the Clemson program to new leadership,” Adair said in a statement.

Phillips thanked Adair in a statement for his service to the University and its athletic program.

Adair began coaching at Clemson in 1995.

During his tenure, Adair led the men’s soccer team to five NCAA final eight competitions, including one Final Four showing.

Assistant coach Phil Hindson will serve as the Tigers interim coach.
