The admission came after two days of rumors statewide in response to Gov. Sanford leaving the country without telling his family or staff where he was going.
Sanford's staff originally said the Governor had told them he would spending several days hiking on the Appalachian Trail, but said yesterday that Sanford had been in Argentina.
