CLEMSON — A Georgia man faces armed robbery charges in connection with a Clemson bank robbery in March.

Jason Lamar Storms, 30, of Atlanta, is charged with armed robbery.

On the morning of March 25, 2009, an armed man wearing a mask over his face entered the College Avenue branch of Wachovia Bank, according to a Clemson Police Department incident report.

Brandishing a handgun, the man ordered everyone to the floor, the report stated.

The man then went behind the counter and into the bank vault before exiting the rear of the bank, police said.

He was seen walking on N. College Avenue shortly after the robbery. Police suspect that a dye-pack concealed in some of the money may have gone off at this point.

Police said the man left town in a gold-colored Ford Taurus, possibly with Georgia plates.

No one was injured in the robbery.

On Monday, July 27, a suspect matching the description of the Clemson suspect was seen at the Wachovia Bank in Lyman.

The suspect was also driving a vehicle that matched the description of the Clemson suspect’s car.

Lyman police contacted the Clemson Police Department, and a Clemson officer questioned the suspect about the March robbery, police said.

Storms was then charged with the Clemson robbery.

He is being held on a $30,000 surety bond.

Storms is also being held on other charges in South Carolina and other states, police said.
