PICKENS — A Pickens man is currently behind bars, charged with having sex with a woman without her permission.

According to an arrest warrant, Billy Jack Powell, 29, of 121 Blossom Circle, faces one count of criminal sexual conduct, third degree.

Police allege that a 26-year-old woman awoke early last Sunday morning “to someone having sex with her, thinking it was her boyfriend,” the warrant states.

According to the warrant, the woman began to cry and begged the man to stop.

The warrant states that after the man stopped, the woman went into the bathroom, then got a good look at the man and realized it wasn’t her boyfriend.

Powell was arrested by county law enforcement and charged Sunday, Aug. 2.

As of press time, he was being held at the Pickens County Law Enforcement Center on $15,000 surety bond, according to detention officers.
