LIBERTY – The City of Liberty and neighboring towns will come together one more time before summer ends to celebrate the Labor Day holiday with an encore Liberty Idol show.
On Monday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., the top 20 contestants of the 2009 Liberty Idol contest will meet back again to put on one more show for the loyal Liberty Idol audience that voted and cheered for them throughout the summer months.
The newly crowned 2009 winner, Amanda Cowen will perform on the stage again for her fans, along with many other crowd favorites from the year.
Roy Costner, the event director and host, said that the dance party at the end of the show each night seemed like such a success that he wanted to bring it back for the Labor Day show.
All sponsors and venders of the event have been invited back for the evening.
Costner said he also wants to get the audience’s opinion about an indoor winter show.
During the 2009 season, Costner tried for two weeks in a row to connect with troops in Afghanistan, however, they were unsuccessful due to a Rivercity Lock Down put in place by the government. He said he hopes to try again to connect with the troops in Afghanistan during Monday’s show.
“This is a great opportunity for the constants to come out and have fun and not have to worry about picking the right song,” said Costner. “It’s a free event as always. We hope that everyone will come out and enjoy Labor Day and the great entertainment with us.”
Costner said that he intends for the event to end around 9 p.m. because children have school the next day.
