EASLEY — An Easley man died Tuesday afternoon after his truck was struck head-on.

Edward Golden, 66, of 563 Lenhardt Road, was

pronounced dead after being transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital following the accident, Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said.

The accident occurred at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday as Golden was traveling north on Lenhardt Road in his 1986 Chevrolet pickup, said Lance Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the SC Highway Patrol.

For reasons unknown as of press time, a 1994 Ford Explorer traveling south went left-of-center, striking Golden’s truck head-on, McDougald said.

The driver of the Explorer was injured in the accident, and taken by ambulance to Greenville Memorial Hospital, he said.

The name of the other driver was not released, as she is a minor. A 7-year old child in a booster seat in the back seat of the Explorer was not injured in the accident, McDougald said.

Golden was wearing a seat belt, but became trapped into the vehicle. After being extricated, he was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:56 p.m.

The Highway Patrol’s Multi-Discplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
