John Oneal Roberts, 75, of Wewahitchka, Fla., passed away Wednesday Sept. 30, 2009, at Bay Medical Center.
Born on August 17,1934 in Fountain Inn, he was the son of the late Ellison and Thelma Roberts.
Oneal received his pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina. Upon graduation, he owned The Corner Drug Store in Pickens. He later moved to Florida where he worked as a pharmacist at Bay Medical Center and retired after serving over 20 years.
Mr. Roberts was a Royal Arch Mason of the Easley York Rite Bodies of Easley, South Carolina.
Oneal is survived by his wife Doris Roberts of Wewahitchka, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law Walton and Janice Roberts; a daughter Midge Roberts and their mother Roberta Roberts all of Easley; step-children Lisa Ward and her husband Harley, David McDaniel and his wife Christy of Wewahitchka; three grandchildren Jesica Hooper of Easley, Hunter and Hayden McDaniel of Wewahitchka, Fla.; a brother Robby Roberts and his wife Anne; two sisters Dessie Jean Roberts and Mary Dempsey and her husband Rhett; a special sister-in-law Harriet Giles and husband Hollie; plus, numerous nieces and nephews all of South Carolina.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, with Brother Mike Chumney officiating at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Wewahitchka, Florida. Interment was at Roberts Cemetery in Wewahitchka, Fla.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and the SICU unit of Bay Medical Center for their wonderful and loving care. A special thank you to Glenn, who went above and beyond, we appreciate you.
Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Larkin McDaniel, Ricky Joe Collins, Joe Bush, Phillip Gaskin, Victor Gortman and Sammy Sims.
