EASLEY – An Easley man died in a house fire early Thursday morning. The fire started in the home of 52-year-old John Douglas Adcox, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Douglas lived at 873 Gentry Memorial Highway in Easley.

The Easley Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the Easley Rural Fire District, according to an Easley Fire Department release.

The Easley Fire Department personnel performed an interior fire attack to get the fire under control, and during the search of the structure, Douglas was found within the house.

A firefighter was also reported injured.

An autopsy on Douglas will be performed sometime on Thursday.

The scene is being investigated by SLED, the Pickens County Sheriffs Office and Pickens County Coroner’s Office. As of 10 a.m. on Thursday, they were still waiting on a warrant to get into the house.
