ATHENS, GA — A Clemson University student claims that fraternity members abducted him and beat him on the campus of the University of Georgia.
University of Georgia police said the alleged incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 15, and involved an 18-year-old Clemson student, whose name has not been released.
“He’s alleging that he was held against his will in one of our fraternity houses and assaulted by some individuals,” said
Administrative Lt. Eric Dellinger with the University of Georgia police department.
The student had visible injuries when he spoke with police, Dellinger said.
“He had multiple cuts and a swollen right eye,” he said. “He had definitely been assaulted in some manner.”
The student declined to transported for medical treatment.
An investigation has been started, but determining just what happened has been difficult so far, Dellinger said.
“The investigators are still trying to determine exactly where everything took place,” he said. “Initially we have had a hard time getting the full story. It’s been very fragmented due to his level of intoxication.
“We’re still working on that,” Dellinger said. “We’re speaking with him, and other people that we feel like may be able to provide information.”
No arrests have occurred, and the investigation is ongoing, Dellinger said.
