Basketball action heats up

PICKENS COUNTY — The 2009 football season is complete, but there’s still plenty of high school sports action as local teams get in some non-conference games before the end of the year.

Thursday night Easley’s varsity boys and varsity girls teams will travel to Greenville to face the Red Raiders.

Pickens visits former Western AAA foe Berea Thursday night.

Friday night Pickens plays at Easley. Liberty will host Dixie High School.

Next Tuesday Easley travels to Byrnes, while Pickens goes to Liberty to play the Red Devils.

Next Thursday, Liberty travels to Dixie.

A week from Friday, Pickens will host Berea.

On Saturday, the Liberty boys and girls varsity basketball teams will step out of the state to play at Rosman, N.C.

Several teams will play in holiday tournaments during the Christmas break.

Easley’s boys varsity team will play in the North Myrtle Beach Tournament Dec. 20-22.

The Liberty boys and girls varsity teams will play in the Lander Christmas Tournament Dec. 21-23.

The Pickens boys varsity team will play in the Westside Christmas Tournament in Anderson Dec. 28-Dec. 30.
