According to Pickens County Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan, an unidentified man shot Coyle, then turned the gun on himself.
The condition of Coyle or the alleged shooter is not known at this time.
Traffic behind Coyles office at 303 East Main Street is currently backed up as onlookers drive by to get a closer look at the commotion.
