Last week, the ESC finally got into the news.
And then there was the remark by Andre Bauer. I don’t disagree with some of what he said, but the way he said it was crude. He’s right, though, when he says that anyone receiving tax-funded benefits should be tested for drug use. I don’t think Mr. Bauer went at all far enough with his plan, however.
Shouldn’t EVERYBODY who is directly benefiting from state taxes have to pass a drug test? We could start with the $100,000-a-year management at the ESC, for example, where there’s been flagrant mismanagement of tax dollars.
How about our legislature? Rank and file state employees already have to be tested, but the folks who can do the most damage (or good), well, we just have to hope they’re not using while they’re making all the important decisions that affect our lives. Even people whose salaries don’t come directly from tax money might need to be tested.
What about the people who levy taxes? Don’t they need a clear mind, free from drugs?
School boards, county councils, and municipal governments all levy taxes, so they should have mandatory testing as well.
Speaking of county council, how’s that $100,000 floating toilet working out? I haven’t heard much about it lately, and where is it? I can’t find it. I’d like to have a photo of it.
I’m with you all the way, Andre, even if I don’t know how you’ll fund all those drug tests. I just had a blood test that cost $300.
Don’t apologize, don’t back down, but be fair.
No double standards.
Test EVERYBODY who touches tax money. And roll up your sleeve.
You’re gonna feel a little stick.
