Pickens teams gear up for spring sports

PICKENS—With basketball season coming to a close, teams for Pickens High School’s spring sports are beginning practice, with most sports’ regular season beginning in early March.

The Blue Flame baseball team will participate in the Easley pre-season tournament, with begins Saturday, Feb. 27. Pickens played Wren Feb. 27, Liberty March 1, and Easley March 2. The tournament finals will be played March 3. All games will be played at Alice Park in Easley.

The Pickens baseball team’s regular season will begin with a game at J.L. Mann March 8. The Blue Flame’s first home game will be against Easley March 10.

The Pickens softball team will participate in the Liberty pre-season tournament, beginning March 5.

The Blue Flame plays Liberty at 5 p.m. March 5. At 12 p.m., March 6, Pickens will face Riverside. At 3:30 March 6, Pickens will face West-Oak.

The championship game will be played 5:15 March 6. All games will be played at Liberty.

The Blue Flame softball team’s regular season begins March 11 at Byrnes. Pickens’ first home softball game will be March 16 against Western AAA foe Seneca.

The Pickens High School track team has to play all of its games on the road. The Blue Flame’s first meet will be March 8 at Liberty.

The Pickens girls soccer team will participate in the Green Wave Cup Mach 5-6 at the J.B. “Red” Owens Recreation Complex and Brice Field in Easley. Pickens opens the tourney 5 p.m. March 5 against Travelers Rest.

The boys soccer team will be hosting the first Alumni Soccer Scrimmage Friday, Feb. 26.
