Many thanks from the Birchwood Center for Arts and Folklife for the generous advance notice the Sentinel and Progress provided for our first 100 Year Reunion of the Old Pendleton District. The turnout was phenomenal-- hundreds came from the tri-state area. Many counties were in attendance, and most old families from around here were represented. It was so successful, we have no doubt we will offer the program next year.
Invariably, anyone I asked replied they had heard about the 100 Reunion, “from an article in the newspaper” or from someone else who had seen the paper.
We aim to make Birchwood events free, or at the lowest possible cost. Your support helps us meet our mission of preserving and promoting the arts, folklife, history and conservation of the Blue Ridge region. We are most appreciative of the service you provide.
Our next event celebrates National Poetry month. Board members Tom Johnson and Harriett Richie will read the poems of Upstate poets and Native American flute music will accompany them on Sunday afternoon, April 11 at 3 pm at the Table Rock Visitors Center.
On behalf of the Birchwood board, once more, many thanks,
Pat Edmunds, Chair
