DACUSVILLE — Three men have been arrested in connection with a break-in at the site of the new Dacusville Middle School, and police are still looking for a fourth suspect.

According to a Pickens County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the break-in occurred on or around March 28, 2010.

While checking the Cherokee Trail site on March 28, a deputy noticed a front end loader that appeared to have been driven up to a tractor trailer, the report said.

The deputy said that the front forks of the loader had been used to damage the trailer door, and that further investigation revealed “pry marks” on the doors of two office trailers on the site, indicating the entry had been gained into them, the report said.

Tools and equipment valued in excess of $35,000 were taken from the trailers owned by Johnson Electrical and Taz Plumbers.

Three suspects have been charged in connection with the theft, and police are still looking for a fourth.

Kevin James Dockery, 20, of 151 Turkey Strut Road, Marietta, is charged with three counts of burglary second degree, two counts of grand larceny, and one count of simple larceny, warrants said.

Jedidiah Eugene Murphy, of 151 Dogwood Drive, Travelers Rest, is charged with one count of second degree burglary and one count of grand larceny.

Christoper Allan Melanson, 23, of 3535 Geer Highway Lot 102, Marietta, is charged with three counts of burglary second degree, two counts of grand larceny, and one count of simple larceny, warrants said.

Deputies are still looking for a fourth suspect, Edward Ray Raines, 45, of 149 Turkey Strut Road, Marietta.

Raines is charged with three counts of second degree burglary, two counts of grand larceny and one count of simple larceny, warrants said.

Melanson and Dockery was released on a $26,000 surety bond, while Murphy has been released on a $10,000 surety bond, police said.

While some items, tools and a small amount of copper taken from the trailers have been recovered, the majority of items have not been located, police said.
