The show will have its official start this Saturday. Contestants who were set to perform on April 24 will perform on May 22. Those who are supposed to perform on May 1 will still perform this Saturday.
In order to keep the shows on schedule for the July 3 finale, a Friday night show on July 2 will be added.
Costner said this is sure to be the biggest Liberty Idol in its history, with auditions coming from as far as Boone, NC; Rock Hill, SC; West Columbia; Greenville; Greer; Anderson and from the Upstate.
Judges for the Saturday night show include Bill Sorchak, CEO of the Ronald McDonalds House of the Carolinas; Melissa Leavell of Ingles; John Homas, a musician from England and Lisa and Warren Rollins. Lisa and Warren Rollins, as well as John Homas were judged from last year.
“This is going to be a huge year,” Costner said. “We were due for the rain because we have been so lucky in the past. It was our turn. We worked around it and came up with a plan.”
Costner wanted to remind everyone that each week before the contest, bands will be performing on the downtown Liberty stage. Band performances begin at 6 p.m.
