EASLEY – Police are investigating the death of an Easley man early Friday morning after they say he was found in the backyard of a Greenville home with what they think is a gunshot wound to the head.

Leon Austin Smith, 24, was found shortly after midnight at a house on County Cork Drive in the Berea area, according to Greenville County Deputy Coroner Scott Ramsey.

Investigators from the Greenville Sheriff’s Office said they believe this death was a result of an argument that happened just before midnight. A suspect is in custody, but his name has not been released.

The autopsy was planned for Friday.
