Pickens girls earn win in fourth quarter

PICKENS – The Pickens High School girls basketball team more than just a challenge from their rivals from Easley Friday night.

Going into the fourth quarter, the undefeated Blue Flame led by just one point. But Pickens dominated the final period to take a 48-38 win.

Kara Morgan led Pickens with 14 points. Chesnee McJunkin adde 11. Other scoring for Pickens were Janna Robinson 7, Kaitlin Wyatt 5, Anna Hunter 4, Emily More 3, Kelsey Robinson 2 and Amanda Hayes 2.

Easley was led by Janesha Hallums, who scored 26 points. Others scoring for the Green Wave were Nyia Bowens 5, Wreath Rodriquez 4 and Matrice Jefferson 3.

Pickens was coming off a Thursday night win over Berea, 56-40.

The Blue Flame took a 17-5 lead in the first quarter. The teams played fairly even from that point allowing Pickens to take the win.

Kara Morgan led the team with 17 points. Janna Robinson add15 and Anna Hunter scored 12. Other scoring for the Blue Flame were Sonny Roach 6, Kairlin Wyatt 4, and Hanna Hopkins 2.

Pickens hosted Travelers Rest Tuesday night. Results of that game were not available at Press time.

The Blue Flame travels to Berea Friday night.
