He is described as a black male, approximately 6’ 07” and 185 pounds, with short hair, police said.
According to Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon, city police received a 911 call in the early morning hours of June 12 regarding a disabled vehicle.
While en route, police received a second regarding gunshots fired near S.C. 93, Dixon said.
Upon arriving at the vehicle, officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle had been shot in the leg and right hip.
An altercation allegedly occurred between
Jenkins and the driver, and the suspect allegedly struck the victim across the back and head, possibly knocking the man for a time, Dixon said.
Later, as the victim was driving on Highway 93, multiple shots were fired at his vehicle, striking the door, the left rear tire, and the rear passenger door window, police said.
The victim was struck by two bullets, Dixon said.
Although wounded, the victim was able to drive to Highway 123. His tire then went flat near ACE Hardware.
The victim was transported to the Anderson Area Medical Center.
Shell casings were found in the front yard of a residence on Highway 93.
Dixon said that Jenkins should be considered armed, as the weapon allegedly used in the incident has not been recovered by police.
