STATE – Nikki Haley easily defeated Gresham Barrett to earn a spot on the November ballot as the Republican nominee for Governor. With 44 of 46 counties reporting, Haley led Barrett with 65.04 percent of the vote.

Ken Ard took 65.35 percent of the vote in his race against Bill Conner for Lt. Governor.

Adam Wilson had 57.77 percent of the votes against Leighton Lord for Attorney General.

Mick Zais won the Republican nomination for state Superintendent of Education, taking 54.2 percent of the vote against Elizabeth Moffly.

“I am grateful to the thousands of voters who supported my candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Superintendent,” Zais said in a released statement. “This campaign has been focused on improving our schools for students, parents, and teachers by reforming them with common-sense conservative ideas. I want to thank my fellow Republicans who ran for this office and look forward to incorporating their grassroots activists, donors, and supporters into my campaign.”
