Two men and one juvenile arrested for damaging mailboxes

PICKENS – One Pickens man, one Liberty man and one juvenile were arrested on July 9 after residents on Newton Rd and Mile Creek Rd. said their mailboxes were damaged by “some type of pipe shaped object,” according to incident reports.

Aaron Mikel Key, 18, of 307 Lost Valley Rd in Pickens and David Arlin Townsend, 17, of 129 Whitmire Hill Rd. in Liberty were charged with nine counts of Malicious Injury to animals, personal property, injury value $2,000 or less, according to warrants.

The juvenile was also charged on July 9 and was released back to the custody of his

father.

According to warrants, Key, Townsend and the juvenile allegedly “struck the mailbox with a metal baseball bat” during the night.

On July 19, arrest warrants were served on Key and Townsend and they were each released on a $9,000 personal recognizance bond.
