Drowning victim found in Lake Keowee

PICKENS COUNTY—The body of James Melvin Roach Jr., 39, was found in Lake Keowee around 2:15 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to a release from Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Roach’s body was seen floating in the lake by passer-bys, the report said.

Family members said that Roach was unable to swim and generally fearful of water, according to the report.

The case is being investigated by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.
