The road from here will not be easy, however, with LHS facing the top two teams in the Skyline AA conference next week.
Carla Simpson, a second year coach at Liberty returns five seniors and two All-Skyline AA players, senior Megan Kelley and junior Amber King, this year. Simpson is a former LHS volleyball player and graduate.
She says next year will be tough without the five seniors, but she has faith that her underclassmen will step up and take on the top roles.
The Red Devils opened up region play with Chesnee, who granted them their first and only loss of the season thus far. The teams battled for five games, and Chesnee came out on top with a 3-2 win. Liberty will have a chance to redeem themselves when they host Chesnee on Sept. 30.
Liberty hosted Palmetto Thursday night, but results were not in on the final score as of press time.
Liberty will host top-ranked Crescent at home on Sept. 28 and Wren at home on Oct. 4. All games begin at 7 p.m.
