PICKENS – It was a special night for several former Pickens High School athletes and coaches who were inducted into the PHS Athletic Hall of Fame and the honorary captain Campbell Gravely who gave a thumbs up to the crowd as his dad pushed his wheelchair off the field Friday night during the Pickens-West Oak game.

And to make it more special, the Blue Flame football team secured a needed conference win, beating West-Oak 35-21.

The Warriors began the scoring by running punt

back after a Pickens three and out to the Pickens 38-yard line. They would follow up with a score on that drive.

The Blue Flame would then make the score even at 7-7 on a running play that led to a touchdown late in the first quarter. West-Oak would go three and out and set up Pickens with good field position. However, with penalties and a missed 42-yard field goal, the score would remain the same.

Pickens went ahead 14-7 in the second quarter of play after several running plays and a Wes Davis quarterback keeper to score.

Pickens would notch on another seven with a 71-yarder from Davis to Jordan Freeman to make it 21-7 at the half.

Pickens would continue to pound adding two more touchdowns to their lead, but West-Oak wasn’t ready to give up, also adding two more touchdowns to make the final score 35-21.
