‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ opens Friday at SWU

This year’s student production, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” will feature a reverent staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical interpretation of the events of Holy Week.

“It is my hope that this version of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ will allow people to experience Christ and his resurrection through a fresh, respectful staging of Lloyd Webber’s musical interpretation of the Passion, said Melanie Gibson Rowell, the show’s director.

Show times are March 15-16, 7:30 p.m.; March 22, 7:30 p.m.; March 23, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The musical will be held in Folger Auditorium on the university’s campus in Central. Details: 864-644-5191 or swu.edu/finearts. Ticket costs are as follows: Adults, $10; non-SWU student/senior, $7 Children under 12, $5; SWU students-free.
