Eighty-four women golfers participated in the 10th annual Ladies Day Golf Tournament benefiting Foothills Alliance held at the Anderson Country Club. The June tournament celebrated the contribution of dedicated Alliance volunteer and avid golfer, Carole Bain, who died in October 2009, just three months after participating in her ninth consecutive Ladies Day Tournament. The name of the tournament has permanently been changed to the Carole Bain Ladies Day Memorial Golf Tournament. With the support of numerous local business sponsors and individuals, the event generated more than $17,400 for clients of Foothills Alliance. Breakfast was donated by the Anderson Country Club Women’s Golf Association, and lunch was provided free by Chick-Fil-A. Placing first in the tournament was the team of Kathy Hane, Central, Carol Klein, Central, Sheree Chapman, Easley, and Susan Looper, of Pickens. Foothills Alliance is not-for-profit child abuse prevention agency and victims’ services agency serving child and adult victims of sexual assault in Anderson and Oconee counties. For information regarding next year’s tournament, call 231-7273.
